Life has become more dynamic and unstable for all of us. Very few of us, are with the same partner, do the same job, live in the same town, or even in the same country, for all of their life.
Of course, this brings with it fear, resistance to change, and sometimes, pain. However, we can also see it from a different point of view. We can instead appreciate that we are living in a world of opportunities, like never before. and that it is like living more than one life, in one lifetime.
There is a wider choice, of careers and jobs, of ways to do our jobs, and from where. You can choose to do completely different jobs during your lifetime; start your own business, take a sabbatical; re-train; retire early; or travel the world whilst working online.
Unfortunately, when we are younger, we tend to be pressed to follow the herd, we might not even question it – you complete your studies, find a full-time job, get married, start a family, etc., etc. Its “norm”-al, no?
Our parents, even if with our best interest in mind, also push us on this path. Unfortunately, the options they see, are limited by what was possible at their time, and by the fear of seeing us “waste” our life.
This means that many of us, are pushed into a life of dissatisfaction, unhappiness or worse. We take the next best thing, rather than follow our life purpose and passion.
In today’s world, with people marrying later or even staying single, it may make perfect sense for us, to try some “wild” things, including doing our own thing, or following a passion, when we are young before we enter any commitments.
In the video attached, I discuss Life Purpose on the popular local TV program – Ilsien n-Nisa. What Life Purpose is, how we can reach out for it at any stage in our life, and that the worst thing we could ever do is not to start, somewhere, no matter how small.
The Pain of Being Off Our Life-Path
Some have numbed themselves, to the pain of not following their life purpose and passion. However, when you numb yourself to uncomfortable feelings, you also numb yourself to good feeling emotions.
Others, on the overhand, are acutely aware of it, but cannot see a way out.
Some, however, have made it. The world is changing. The opportunities are there. We live longer, and many could not take it anymore and have taken the plunge into something new.
You can make it too. Other measures, such as changing your lifestyle, can also help you make it more possible.
So whether it is a need for change, you feel; of being stuck in a dead-end job; that something is missing; or that you are living somebody else’s life; Life Passion and Purpose Coaching, maybe for you.
Or, you may just, still be feeling, the pull of a life dream, you have put aside, for far too long.
You may also have been made redundant, and feeling lost and confused. You can turn this around, and see it, as an opportunity to transform your life around and have a second chance to follow your life passion and purpose.
About twelve years ago, I started feeling that the corporate world, was no longer for me. I felt that something was amiss.
It appeared as if it was giving me freedom, security and flexibility – freedom to spend; a good lifestyle; the security of a steady income, and flexibility to work different hours and from different locations. Instead, it was enslaving me to my pay-check; changing me in ways I did not like, for fear of losing my job, and worse, it was ruling how I worked with and treated my colleagues, and when my free time was actually free.
Most of all, I craved real connections, with real people, and their life, rather than their official persona.
Are you stuck in a job that kills your soul, a bit more, every day?
Obviously, this came up in discussion with other career-minded people. A few of them were also feeling the same way. The corporate world had given us all that it could have, and now we wanted more from life.
These were not lazy or tired people; but hard-working people, that wanted to put their life-hours into something more meaningful and more real. Something that felt less like work and more like life.
Both on the internet and living on a sunny island, I was also observing, a momentum of people leaving a promising career, for a simpler but more rewarding occupation; one which gives them real autonomy and freedom, even if less prestigious, and less rewarding money-wise.
I know that some of those people I talked to are still stuck in the corporate world. However, others have set themselves free and never looked back.
When I could not take it anymore, I left the corporate world and took an 18-month sabbatical. I did not know what I will do next. I hoped and prayed, that I will never return to “The System”, as I called it.
While for some of us, our life purpose and passion, is obvious, for others it may be obscured by the social conditioning, or completely hidden from them. Still, their maybe something, more meaningful and exciting for you, then what you are doing now.
I read and listened to webinars; and tried my hand at different things, until my life purpose and passion was clear.
Life Purpose and Passion Coaching
During this coaching, we will go through some exercise to find what your calling is, or find the confidence and courage in it.
It can also help debunk some myths about finding or following one’s life passion, and help you question the status quo – a lot of things we take for granted and follow blindly, deadening us inside, to our own unique calling.
Yet I know, it is not easy to leave it all behind – the title, the security, the money, the “success”, what close ones will say, and so on. So we will also go through some exercises to overcome the fears and the obstacles, holding you back.
Combined with Living Simpler and Better Coaching, if required, it will be easier for you, to make the jump.
